Many camera clubs, including Cardiff Camera Club, both host competitions between members & participate in external competitions as a club (battles). There are many variations in the form competition but fundamentally an independent Judge will evaluate each photograph in the competition and award it a score. The winner is then the person or club with the highest score (as awarded by the competition judge).
The club currently hosts the “Photographer of the year” & “Members choice award” between members.
Photographer of the year
This is a monthly league competition that takes place between October and June to determine the best photographer for Prints, digital and combined photographs
Members choice award
This is an annual competition for the membership to decide upon the best digital & print photograph
Battles
When the club competes with other clubs these contests are called battles. Battles can be either with a single other club or with multiple clubs. Cardiff has battles with a number of other camera clubs from the local area.
