Last Friday (24th November 2023) Newport Photographic Club hosted our annual club battle for the Otter trophy. As usual we were made to feel very welcome – Thanks Newport. The event was well attended with 7 members from Cardiff making the trip to support the club. Nick Jenkins was drafted in to adjudicate and did an excellent job.
In the end it was a close run competition but definitely a battle of two halves. After the first half print section Cardiff had a comfortable lead. However, Newport had a stonking digital selection and were closing the gap with every photograph in the second half. At the close Cardiff had won by a mere 2 points (out of a possible score of 400). The final scores were:
Cardiff – 365
Newport – 363
From our entry three entries were awarded the top mark. Well done to Dave Russell for “Dave Cousins, Strawbs Final performance”, Richard Payton for “Our City” and Dave Lawrence for “Perfect reflection Banff Canada”.
