Newport Photographic club hosted our annual battle in early March (4-MAR-2022). This head to head competition had been delayed several times due to COVID but we were finally able to meet face to face with a mixed print and digital competition for the Otter trophy. However, COVID caused one final twist and prevented our Judge, Tony Byram, from attending at short notice. What to do? We used Tonys scores but with critique from the audience. The Cardiff members provided feedback on the Newport images and vice vera. It was actually quite fun, especially when the photographers were present to ‘defend’ their photographs.
In the end it was a win for Cardiff who amassed 361 points against Newports 340. The full scores are below where “Berry nice to meet you” (Chris Chinnick), “Grey Heron” (Andre Van de Sande), “Wild rabbit” (Dave Barton), “Otters” (Andre Van de Sande), “Waiting for breakfast” (Chris Chinnick) & Competition (Niall) all scored maximum marks for Cardiff.
